I remember reading that the Ray Winstone you see in the film is
slightly modified from the Real Life Ray Winstone. Makes you wonder
what they did to the images of the rest of the cast ... are Angelina
Jolies breasts really that big?
Watched the Seventh Seal last night, with English dubbing done in the
sixties. Rada versions of upper middle class brits. Sounded wierd at
first, Max Von Sydow loses his distinctive accent, and the whole thing
becomes a little lighter in atmosphere. Still. The old Bergman genius
shone through, even though some period details went astray (Von
Sydow's horse was an Arab stallion, his lance seemed to have gone
astray, and a lot of the carpentry looked suspiciously machine-cut and
square), the film felt of a piece, and suitably strange enough to be
medieval, particularly the bit where the self-flagellates bull doze
their way past the theatre troups production making the latter look a
little ... pallid.
I'm betting that Beowulf comes nowhere close, even if they'd have used
Anglo-Saxon.
