Call for papers
MEETING: The History of Science, Technology and Medicine in Ireland
Friday 14th March 2008
Trinity College, Dublin
Following the success of two recent meetings on the history of science
in Ireland, the Royal Irish Academy Committee for the History of Irish
Science has decided to hold a one-day general meeting on 14th March
2008.
There is a growing constituency of those interested in the history of
science, technology, and medicine in Ireland and this will provide a
forum for discussion and exchange of ideas.
Offers of papers on any topic are welcomed, particularly from
post-graduate students.
The meeting will begin at 10.30 am and end at 4.00 pm to facilitate
those travelling to Dublin. Presentations will be 20 minute long. We
plan a round-table discussion on two topics: on how to promote and
increase public awareness of the history of science in Ireland, and
secondly, 'what is Irish about Irish science?'
Offers of papers should be sent via e-mail by 14th January 2008 to Dr
Patrick Wyse Jackson, Department of Geology, Trinity College, Dublin 2
(353-1-8961477; [log in to unmask]) from whom further details are
available.
