medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
"consecrated associate-king 1 Nov 1179, Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Reims. He succeeded his father in 1180"
He apparently was on the throne and functioning - sort of - before his father's death for reasons I'm too lazy to research. Perhaps dad was ill, incapacitated. If you notice, papa didn't die until 1180. There's a very interesting book, _The Lives of the Kings and Queens of France_, buried in my library along with the book showing a nimbed Saint Matthew and the one misidentifying Zechariah, father of John Baptist. As soon as I find any of them, I'll let Carlos and Meg (I think) know.
