Fourteenth Gerson Lecture (Groningen, 22 Nov 2007)
Fourteenth Gerson Lecture: Patricia Lee Rubin, 'Portraits by the Artist
as a Young Man: Parmigianino ca. 1524'
On November 22, 2007, Professor Patricia Lee Rubin will give the
fourteenth Gerson Lecture in the Aula of the University of Groningen,
The Netherlands. Professor Rubin is Deputy Director of the Courtauld
Institute of Art and Head of the Courtauld Institute of Art Research
Forum, and the author of numerous articles and several books, including
Images and Identity in Fifteenth-Century Florence (2007) and Giorgio
Vasari: Art and History (1995). Her lecture is titled: 'Portraits by the
Artist as a Young Man: Parmigianino ca. 1524'. Her text will be
available immediately after the lecture, as volume 14 of the series
'Gerson Lectures'.
Preceding the Gerson Lecture, there will be two additional lectures on
related topics, by dr. Lyckle de Vries (Groningen) and dr. Truus van
Bueren (University of Utrecht). They will be held in the lecture room of
the Department of Art History, Oude Boteringestraat 34, Groningen.
In the morning, there will be the presentation of a book on Horst
Gerson, written by dr. Edward Grasman (Leiden University) on behalf of
the Gerson Lectures Foundation: Gerson in Groningen. Een portret van
Horst Gerson, kunstkenner en hoogleraar kunstgeschiedenis (1907-1978).
Speakers will be: prof. dr. Rudi Ekkart (Director of the Netherlands
Institute for Art History), prof. dr. Henk van Os (University of
Amsterdam) and dr. Edward Grasman himself.
All those interested are invited to attend the lectures. There is no
registration and no participation fee.
