I would like to personally invite you to attend the Talis Insight Conference
to be held at the Hilton Metropole, Birmingham on the 6th-7th November 2007.
This year we have assembled a great list of keynote speakers, sessions and
exhibitors. These include presentations from Roy Clare CBE, the recently
appointed Chief Executive of the MLA, Tony Durcan the President of the
Society of Chief Librarians and John Dolan OBE, Head of Library Policy at
the MLA. Other sessions include a presentation on the results of the recent
CILIP backed Public Library survey by Ken Chad, a Young Librarians panel
chaired by Frances Hendrix, and a thought provoking session with Tim Coates.
The event will open with a challenging session entitled ‘What will
'Businesslike' mean when business isn't like business anymore?’ from Euan
Semple, former Head of Knowledge Management at the BBC. We are also pleased
to welcome Marshall Breeding from Vanderbilt University in the United
States, a worldwide authority on library automation.
Attendance at the event is free and relevant to all libraries, regardless of
whether you use systems from Civica, DS, Infor, Innovative, BiblioMondo,
Talis or SirsiDynix.
We pride ourselves in being at the forefront of business and technology
innovation for public libraries in the UK, with a deliberate focus on
regional, cultural and social agendas. The conference programme also
includes a variety of Talis presentations and product demonstrations of new
and existing solutions from community engagement and next generation search
to integrating library management systems with Council wide finance and CRM
systems or corporate Web sites.
Key conference themes include citizen-centred services, community
engagement, supply chain integration, collaborative partnerships and social
computing. The full conference programme is now available at
www.talis.com/insight.
Throughout the two days there will be an exhibitor showcase; we welcome
Insight Media, BDS, Salford Software, SB Electronics, 2CQR, Lorensbergs,
Talkingtech, D-Tech, QAS, FIL and CILIP.
We encourage and support innovation within libraries, and actively stimulate
conversations to facilitate sharing ideas and best practice amongst our
customers and the wider library community.
Come and meet with your peers and find out how Talis and libraries are
discovering new Inspiration for Change.
