Website of Accessible, Digital Books Receives $32 Million in Federal Grant
In a news release on their homepage ( http://www.bookshare.org/web/Welcome.html), Bookshare.org announced that the Office of Special Education Programs of the U.S. Department of Education granted a five-year, $32 million grant to the organization, which will allow them to provide access to all schools with students with visual or other print disabilities to their entire online, digital book collection without charging a fee. The funding will also allow the organization to add an additional 100,000 titles in high quality DAISY and Braille formats over the five year period of the grant.
