Dear all
I work for the Technical Advisory Service for Images (TASI) which,
for those of you who haven't heard of us, is a JISC funded service
that supports FE and HE, museums, galleries, libraries and archives
with everything and anything to do with digital images. We have a
website (www.tasi.ac.uk/) which has links to hundreds of advice
papers regarding aspects of digital imaging such as advice on file
formats, building a departmental image collection, metadata, choosing
a digital camera or scanner and so on. We also have a free helpdesk
facility which is simply an e-mail address to which you may write
with questions pertaining to digital imaging ([log in to unmask]). No
question is too simple or advanced so feel free to use this service.
(I should mention that this service is only free to those working in
FE, HE and to the majority of people working within galleries,
libraries, museums and archives).
Another main feature of the work we do is to run training courses
(www.tasi.ac.uk/training). These courses are available to anybody but
cheaper for those working in the sectors mentioned above. I would
like to use the list to post monthly bulletins of our courses. If
this is not relevant for the work that the majority of people on this
list do then if the list owner could please let me know I will
refrain from sending these bulletins. Otherwise I look forward to
seeing some of you on our courses and hope you find our resources
useful.
Kind regards
David Kilbey
