"Nuclear Envelope-linked Rare Human Diseases: From Molecular Pathophysiology
towards Clinical Applications"
This is a Specific Targeted Research Project within the EU's 6th Framework
Programme, which brings together an interdisciplinary team of human
geneticists, clinical researchers, structural biologists, molecular cell
biologists, and industrial partners at leading Institutions across Europe in a
joint effort to address human diseases derived from the alteration of the cell
nucleus, specifically the nuclear lamina and its associated components.
The successful applicant will work in the group of Olga Mayans affiliated to
both the new Structural Biology unit at the School of Biological Sciences,
University of Liverpool and the Biozentrum of the University of Basel. It is
foreseen that the candidate will be primarily based at the Liverpool site. The
selected researcher will engage in the biochemical, biophysical and structural
analysis of complex formation involving lamina-associated proteins.
A solid background in molecular biology and protein expression is required as
well as experience in X-ray crystallography. Preference will be given to
applicants with a demonstrated record in the biochemical and/or biophysical
analysis of protein:protein complexes.
Applications should include a comprehensive CV and contact details for two
referees.
