** Collections of the Month: Betty Boothroyd **
This month we look at Betty Boothroyd. Baroness Boothroyd of Sandwell is well known for having been the first woman Speaker of the House of Commons, a position she held from 1992 until her retirement in 2000.
The Betty Boothroyd Collection is held at the Open University, where she was Chancellor from 1995 until 2006. The collection mainly contains papers regarding her time as Speaker, but also contains correspondence and materials regarding her career as an MP and her activities since stepping down as Speaker in 2000.
