Post-doc profile
A post-doctoral research position is available at the Laboratoire d’Economie
des Transports, for 18 months, starting from January 2008 (not later than
June 2008). LET is a joint laboratory between the University of Lyon and the
National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS).
The conditions are those of CNRS post-docs: 2040 € / months + basic French
health social insurance. Candidates must have obtained their Phd between
2005 and 2007.
MISSIONS
This post-doctoral position is part of a French national research (ANR
research – programme blanc) “Eurocities DATTA – Distance – Activity – Travel
- Time – Accessibility”, managed by the partnership LET-LaSUR-GRT . The
interdisciplinary team is composed of economists, sociologists, geographers
and mathematicians.
The general field: impact of transport policy on mobility and activity
behaviours.
PROFILE
The candidates should have a PhD, or equivalent, in economics, geography,
sociology, applied mathematics, but essentially should have a good
background in the area of transportation.
The fellow must have skills in data base handling and data analysis. Some
mathematical background but essentially knowledge and experience in
transportation are needed.
The ANR project will provide places for presentation and discussion of the
research steps through international workshops cycle with the relevant
international research teams. The fellow will contribute to the
organisation, coordination and synthesis of the workshops.
During the different phases of the Eurocities DATTA project, the fellow will
have opportunities to work with each of the 3 teams.
The fellow must have skills in statistical modelling and/or GIS modelling. A
knowledge of the SAS software and/or of GIS software (e.g. ARC GIS) would be
appreciated. During his/her fellowship, the candidate will have to handle
large data bases, to analyse them and to use them to develop econometric
models (duration and/or discrete choice models) and/or activity-based
accessibility indicator. Therefore he/she must be familiar with one or the
other methodology. Having already worked on activity based models will also
be an added value for this fellowship.
