Subject: [PSCI-COM] Maths job opportunities at the Ri
Are you passionate about sharing the beauty and power of mathematics?
The Royal Institution (Ri) has three exciting opportunities, based in London, within its vibrant and expanding mathematics outreach programme.
Focused mainly on engaging and encouraging young people (ages 10-18) with an interest in mathematics and supporting their teachers, the programme has nationwide series of Saturday morning mathematics masterclasses as its core activity. The programme also extends to a wider audience through the Ri's public science programmes and other collaborations.
Clothworkers' Fellow in Mathematics - Secondary (£29,387-£41,359 p.a.) Clothworkers' Fellow in Mathematics - Primary (£29,387-£41,359 p.a.) Clothworkers' Associate in Mathematics (£20,890-£24,180 p.a.)
The persons appointed will be part of an expanding team (three full-time and one part-time person) and will be expected to work closely and sensitively with the academics, teachers and other volunteers who are the mainstay of the programme. The positions involve travel, and working on Saturdays.
Candidates for Fellow must have a Master's degree or PhD in mathematics, science or related discipline and a broad and solid knowledge of school level mathematics and its applications. Candidates for Associate must have a degree in mathematics, science, or related discipline and a fair knowledge of school level mathematics and its applications.
Detailed job descriptions and guidelines on how to apply are available online at www.rigb.org .
Applications are due by 5pm on Tuesday 13 November 2007, and interviews will be held on 27 or 28 November 2007 at the Ri, 21 Albemarle Street, London W1S 4BS.
The Ri is an equal opportunities employer.
If you have any queries, please contact the Clothworkers' Fellow in Mathematics at [log in to unmask] or on 020 7670 2906.
