SUMEHR together with John Eversley is pleased to invite you to the fifth in
a series of seminars exploring contemporary issues in researching Black and
Minority Ethnic Health in historical perspective. Each seminar aims to
attract a specialist audience familiar with the specific issue to be
discussed either historically or today and a more general audience
interested in contemporary research and action on the health of Black and
Minority Ethnic communities. Please circulate this information.

5.30 - 6.20 Rozina Visram - The forgotten contribution of Asian doctors
to pre-NHS medicine and public health
Rozina Visram a historian, educationalist and authority on the history of
Asians in Britain. Rozina’s publications include Asians in Britain: 400
Years of History (Pluto, 2002) and Ayahs, Lascars and Princes: Indians in
Britain 1700-1947 (Pluto, 1986) as well as a number of books for schools on
Asian history. She has worked as both schoolteacher and university lecturer
and has contributed to numerous museum projects.

experts on the historical and contemporary context are being invited
