Library and Learning Services 

The University of East London is a dynamic and rapidly expanding University
in the heart of Europe's largest regeneration area and immediately adjacent
to the site of the 2012 Olympics.  It is a vibrant and exciting environment

Our passion within Library & Learning Services is providing a high-quality
learning environment to assist our diverse learning community. As part of our
ambitious plans for innovation and development, we have a stunning new
library at our Docklands Campus and improved space in our beautiful historic
library at Stratford.

ELECTRONIC RESOURCES MANAGER

Salary in the range of £33,014 to £36,783 p.a. inc.

We have made considerable progress in embedding electronic information
services in the work of our academic community. You will take the lead in
further developing and managing our comprehensive electronic resources
collections and related systems, including website development. You will also
oversee our ECDL service and Institutional Repository project. You will work
closely with the academic community, e-learning staff and our library team,
particularly our subject librarians.

You will be a graduate with experience of developing and managing electronic
resources, preferably in an academic library. You will be an innovative
individual with an in-depth knowledge of digital information environment, an
understanding of web technologies, excellent project management and staff
management skills. You must have the ability to work effectively with UEL's
diverse community of staff & students.

INSTITUTIONAL REPOSITORY MANAGER
Salary in the range of £28,138 to £32,142 p.a. inc. 
1 Year Fixed Term Contract

The University is establishing a new institutional repository to provide easy
access to its research outputs and to facilitate knowledge transfer through a
JISC-funded project. We are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic
professional to create, organise, develop, administer and promote the
university's Institutional Repository. You will work effectively with the
university's research & knowledge transfer communities, our subject
librarians and systems team, and external agencies, such as the JISC, SHERPA
etc.

You will be a graduate with excellent interpersonal, project management and
technical skills with a familiarity with the HE environment.  Knowledge and
understanding of developments in Open Archive Initiatives and Institutional
Repository developments would be an advantage.


ASSISTANT CAMPUS LIBRARY MANAGER
Docklands Library

Salary in the range £33,014 to £36,783 p.a. incl.

You will support the Campus Library Manager in delivering a whole range of
customer services and in managing site operations. Duties will include the
front-line delivery of traditional and electronic services, user education
and information skills, cataloguing and finance.  You will be responsible for
managing a team of staff and will also have overall responsibility for
customer services and the implementation of best practice at our Docklands
Library.

You will be a graduate, qualified librarian with experience of working in a
busy learning environment and you will have excellent communication, IT and
teamwork skills. 


PART-TIME WEEKEND AND EVENING LIBRARY MANAGERS (2 posts)

To work up to two evenings & Saturdays (17 hours per week), 38 weeks per
annum
Salary in the range £28,138 to £32,142 p.a. incl. pro-rata

One post is based at our Stratford Library and the other at our Docklands
Library

You will be responsible for providing a wide range of traditional and
electronic services, supervising staff and supporting our users during
evenings and at weekends. You will be a graduate, qualified librarian with a
customer-focused approach with experience of managing library services and
supervising staff. You will have excellent communication, IT and teamwork
skills. 


ASSISTANT LIBRARIANS (3 posts)
Salary in the range £24,685 to £27,406 p.a. incl.  

Two posts are based at our Stratford Library and one at our Docklands Library

You will be responsible for providing a range of administrative support
including acquisitions, financial administration and circulation. You will
also contribute to our issue and enquiry desk services and take
responsibility for the library at certain times, including the supervision of
staff. You will have experience of working in a busy learning environment and
will have excellent administrative, communication, IT and teamwork skills. An
appropriate professional qualification in librarianship/information science
or IT is desirable. 

LIBRARY ASSISTANTS (2 posts)
Stratford Library 

Salary in the range £19,202 to £21,168 p.a. incl.

You will provide front-line library and learning services. Educated to A
level standard or equivalent - a degree is desirable - you will be a
flexible, customer-focused individual and a committed team player with
experience of library or customer services. You will also have good IT and
communication skills. 

LIBRARY SHELVER
12 hours per week, 38 weeks per year
Salary in the range £17,072 to £18,746 p.a. incl. pro-rata

You will shelve our heavily-used collections of library materials.  You will
be educated to GCSE standard or equivalent, have customer services experience
and basic keyboarding skills.
