Those of you with an interest in military matters may like to note the following:
John Schofield and I have recently taken over ownership of the Militarch list which, as the name suggests, concerns itself with the subject of military archaeology and architecture. Rather than give ourselves a narrow focus however, we have chosen to broadly define that phrase to include anything that involves the documentation, interpretation, analysis or management of military sites or militarised landscapes anywhere in the world. Contributions are therefore equally welcomed from archaeologists, anthropologists, cultural historians, military historians, artists, military personnel, enthusiast and amateur archaeologists, curators, veterans and veterans' groups. Members may:
1 need answers to specific questions about military archaeology;
2 wish to publicise books, news items, conferences, lectures etc.
3 want to raise topics for debate and discussion.
With this email we would like to encourage contributions under these and any other headings, and ask existing members to pass details of the list to others who share an interest. We look forward to a lively few months of Militarch debate and dialogue.
