Access Burns: Revealing the Hidden Collection
Burns National Heritage Park
Salary range: £24,000 pro rata
Duration: The post is for 9 months, from Nov 2007 - Sept 2008.
Applications are sought from suitably qualified archivists / curators
for the temporary post of Project Archivist. The project, Access Burns,
aims to create opportunities for access to collections relating to
Robert Burns which have recently been deemed to be of national
significance.
Access Burns is a partnership initiative between Burns National
Heritage Park, the owners of the Burns Birthplace collection, and
Ayrshire Archives Centre, where the collection is held. The position
will be based at Ayrshire Archives Centre in Ayr.
Candidates must have experience of documenting and digitising
collections and in working to tight project deadlines. They should also
possess first-rate computing and cataloguing skills with recent
experience of using archival, image or object database management
systems. Experience of the conservation and handling of a paper based
collection would be advantageous.

October. Interviews will be held on the week commencing Monday 29th
October and it is hoped to make an appointment at the earliest possible
date after that.
Access Burns is a Recognition Fund project. The Recognition Scheme is
funded by the Scottish Executive and managed by the Scottish Museums
Council.
