Dear Colleagues,
You and your students and associates are invited to submit contributed talks
and poster papers respectively for the Symposium on Electronic Structures
and Reaction Dynamics of Open-shell Species at the 235th ACS National
Meeting, April 6-10, 2008, New Orleans, LA. The symposium is organized by
Jingsong Zhang and Martin Head-Gordon and aims to bring together theorists
and experimentalists to discuss the state of the art in studies of free
radicals.
NOTE THAT THE ABSTRACT SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS OCTOBER 28, 2007.
PLEASE FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO YOUR GRADUATE STUDENTS AND POSTDOCTORAL
ASSOCIATES
Electronic Structures and Reaction Dynamics of Open-shell Species
Open-shell species play important roles in many reactive environments
(atmosphere, combustion, plasma, interstellar space, etc.), and yet it is
challenging to investigate reaction dynamics of free radicals at the
molecular level. This symposium highlights recent advances in experimental
and theoretical studies of both the fundamental and applied aspects of
open-shell species. The topics include spectroscopy and potential energy
surfaces, photochemistry, and reaction dynamics of free radicals in gas
phase, clusters, and condensed phase, as well as in atmospheric applications
and other chemical processes.
(A list of sessions and invited speakers follows at the end of this email)
To submit an abstract, please go to ACS OASYS web site:
http://oasys.acs.org/acs/235nm/phys/papers/index.cgi
Your first step when you get to that page is to choose the right symposium.

If we are not able to accommodate everyone's contributed talks, we will
transfer the paper to the poster session.
