CILIPS, SIC and the RNIB are running two one-day events in Scotland to work
with public libraries to improve services to blind, partially sighted and
dyslexic children and young people.
5h November 2007 10-3.30pm in the Conference room, Dundee Central Library,
Wellgate, Dundee and
6th November 2007, 10am-3.30pm in the Seminar Suite, Glasgow Metropolitan
College, 60 North Hanover Street, Glasgow
The days are free of charge. A place for one senior person with
responsibility for children’s and/or accessible services has been reserved
for each library service in Scotland, please confirm your nomination by
completing and returning the event registration form which can be found at

The main aims of the days are to:
· Increase awareness of the library needs of visually impaired
children and young people
· Share good practice of library work with visually impaired
children and young people
· Explore ideas of how to improve these services in the future
· Identify ambitious, but realistic action plans for:
o service improvement
o marketing library services to blind, visually impaired and dyslexic
young people and their parents/carers
o raising awareness and developing good practice among library staff at
all levels
