Hi Fred,
That is really weird- I was literally just looking at the IEEE LOM draft
standard to see the DC mapping to the LOM when your email came through.
I don't know if there is a mapping specifically of the UK LOM Core
mandatory and recommended elements, but there is a mapping of all the
simple DC properties to relevant LOM elements in Appendix B of the LOM
draft standard:
http://ltsc.ieee.org/wg12/files/LOM_1484_12_1_v1_Final_Draft.pdf
You've probably looked at this already but just for others' information
too.
Having just looked at this again with a fresh eye, I note that I don't
entirely agree with this mapping: specifically the bit that only maps a
LOM contribution date to DC:Date if the date is correlated to Publisher
in the LOM contribution element. In Simple DC, the date can apply to
any point in an object's lifecycle.
Anyway, because there are only 15 unqualified DC properties, it wouldn't
take much work to see how each of the relevant LOM elements looks in the
UK LOM Core- much easier than doing it the other way round (i.e. going
through the UK LOM Core and looking for related DC properties).
I'm curious to see if anyone has any other mappings between Dublin Core
and LOM though, be they UK LOM Core related or otherwise.
Cheers
Sarah

On a search the closest I've found is the paper at http://www.ariadne.ac.uk/issue41/godby/. I've got the DCMI and UK LOM Core references to hand, and chunky docs they are, so it would be nice to have a simple précis for personal reference and for meetings. Mercy buckets for any pointers.
