Lecturer in Structural Biology

Applications are invited for a tenured position as Lecturer in  
Structural Biology. You should have state-of-the-art skills and a  
publication record in structural biology, preferably in X-ray  
crystallography. The School of Biological Sciences hosts a modern  
fully equipped X-ray crystallography laboratory, including  
crystallization robotics, as well as facilities for cryo-electron  
microscopy, access to high-field NMR, and access to synchrotron data  
collection.

The Structural Biology laboratory is also part of the Maurice Wilkins  
Centre for Molecular Bio-discovery, a national Centre of Research  
Excellence (www.mauricewilkinscentre.org). This offers collaborative  
opportunities in proteomics, cell biology and immunology, medicinal  
and synthetic chemistry and advanced biological modelling.

You will be expected to develop an internationally competitive  
research programme in structural biology, able to attract external  
research funding and graduate students. Collaboration with other  
staff is encouraged, and the appointee is also expected to  
participate in the School's undergraduate and graduate teaching  
programmes.

The School of Biological Sciences currently employs 180 staff and  
supervises 120 PhD students. The School has modern laboratories and  
operates state-of-the-art equipment centres for genomics, proteomics,  
mass spectrometry and molecular structure determination (see SBS web  
site: http://www.sbs.auckland.ac.nz/). The University is situated in  
the heart of Auckland, a modern lively city with a beautiful harbour  
and beaches, a warm climate and easy access to many outdoor activities.
