I'm always quite partial to the non-burning £5 note; You dunk a bank
note in spirits (if memory serves, 40% alcohol vodka doesn't work,
but 45% Scotch does), pull it out... and set fire to it. What
happens, of course, is that the alcohol burns off leaving the bank
note wet but otherwise unharmed.
With a suitable bit of business you can spin this out into something
really quite funny, I'd have thought. Still won't keep the H&S people
happy, though it's not even as risky as a flaming Christmas pudding,
if that helps any. Note that it's a bit too repeatable if there are
children present, however.
