Hi Mike
A question for you !
I have been researching (as you know) WW2 sites on the Dee Estuary / Burton Marsh.
There are a lot of bridges out there, over "gutters" - and I believed them to be all WW2.
Apparently not - a lot of them are "Coal Board" bridges, and a fellow shooting companion told me that the NCB did extensive test drillings and borings - late 60's / early 70's on the Dee Estuary marsh, over a couple of years.
Do you have any info as to what for, why, results, dates etc.
I am well aware there was a colliery (colleries) in the field next to my house (it is called "Colliery Green Drive"), it's all fairly well documented locally, but nothing on the NCB. When we first came here in 1985, here was a blue / yellow NCB sign on the pit shaft cap (I did live in Doncaster). I also had to have a Coal Board house search - which didn't coincide with the date of the last shift in the local pub !
cheers
