Faculty Positions in the Area of Structural and Computational Biology are Available at the Department of Biological Sciences & BioEngineering, Indian Institute of Technology, KANPUR.
Biological
Sciences and Bioengineering (BSBE) was established at IIT-Kanpur in
September 2001 as a new multi-disciplinary initiative in biology.
Structural and computational biology is one of the focus areas at BSBE.
The ongoing research projects in structural biology include studies on
GTP-binding proteins and kinases with relevance to disease.
Bioinformatics and computational techniques are used to investigate the
pharmaceutically important membrane-binding peptides and proteins.
State-of-the-art computational and X-ray crystallography facilities
have been established to promote research in this key area. The
department not only facilitates interactions with investigators working
in genetics, developmental biology and bioengineering, but also has a
conducive atmosphere for multi-disciplinary research in collaboration
with other engineering and science departments.
As
structural and computational biology has undergone a major
transformation in the post-genomic era, BSBE wishes to strengthen this
area to understand disease at the molecular level. We are actively
seeking to recruit young faculty members who share this vision.
