The Black Cultural Archives (BCA) is recruiting an experienced Archivist to
play a key role in an HLF Funded project to retrospectively document BCA’s
collection. The collection includes a library, a mixed archive of
manuscripts and printed materials, prints and photographs as well as
paintings and some artefacts.
The post-holder will join BCA at an exciting stage of its organisation’s
development, as work progresses toward building the first National Black
Heritage Centre in the UK, dedicated to telling the stories of Black
Britain, by 2011.
Managing a small team of staff and volunteers, the successful candidate will
be responsible for the cataloguing, preservation and digitisation of the
collection. They will work with the executive on developing future policy
and with our education staff in developing new collection-based programmes
and initiatives.
