An important survey is being conducted by about the UK Archives Sector Workforce by LLUK, the Sector Skills Council with responsibility for the archives and record keeping sector.
The purpose of this survey is to collect essential information on the profile of staff working in the this sector. This information will inform future research and allow LLUK to make recommendations on how training requirements can best be met within the sector as a whole.
The phase of data collection concerning archives and records management in England was completed in August. The phase of data collection for Scotland has now begun and will be running until the 24th September.
The survey is available online and can be completed by individuals in small archives or please encourage the Head of Archive or the HR department to submit a response in the case of larger organisations. We would strongly encourage Scottish archives to take part in the survey to ensure that we have good coverage of the Scottish workforce.
Please visit the following web page for further information and to take part in the survey:

This survey has also been posted on the ScotArch list and the Society of Archivists in Scotland is also supporting us by informing it’s members.
