JOB: Statistician
The National Institute for Biological Standards and Control is a
multi-disciplinary scientific establishment with the crucial role of
protecting public health through standardizing and controlling
biological substances used in medicine.
Joining a small team of experienced statisticians, you will be involved
in the application and development of statistical methods for the
analysis of biological assays.
Ideally, you will hold or be completing an MSc in statistics or a
related field and have an awareness and interest in the application of
statistics in the biological/medical areas. However, new graduates with
a good honours degree in statistics or a related field will be
considered. You will need to demonstrate an aptitude to develop your
statistical knowledge and expertise.
It is essential you are able to engage in close inter-disciplinary
collaboration and develop an understanding of the basic underlying
science. The ability to communicate clearly to scientific colleagues
the statistical principles that underlie sound biometrical design,
together with accurate report preparation are vital for this role. You
can expect to gain a thorough grounding in the application of
biostatistics in biological assays.
Salary will be between 20,575 up to 29,124 pounds sterling dependent on
experience.
