Hi
We have a disability support team which inludes dyslexia tutors, mental
health advisors and disability advisors. We also have a Disability Named
Contacts network which consists of contacts (both academic and
adminstrative) in schools and departments who are a point of contact 'on
the ground' as it were. We have a Diversity Adminstrative Officer who
deals with discrimination and harassment casework as well as a Listening
Ears Network which is similar to our DNC network, and consists of staff in
all areas of the university who can provide a first point of contact for
those people feeling they are experiencing discrimination. Networks have
regular meetings and we provide them with training. This is a voluntary
position in addition to existing staff duties.
Students (and staff) have the opportunity to contact the network, or the
main service, or myself depending on what they feel most comfortable with.
We try to resolve issues locally before moving to a formal complaints
procedure when it comes to complaints of discrimination and harrassment.

Dear Colleagues,
At the University of Westminster we have a Disability Services team which
primarily looks after student related disability issues. This includes
local support for students with disabilities via Disability Tutors who are
academic colleagues with a particular interest or background in disability
who give the local, first point of contact advice and support at a campus
level.
We are looking to possibly review and broaden this role to other areas of
student diversity and were wondering if other universities had similar
structures/roles in this area?
Best wishes
