Apologies for cross posting:
As you may be aware, Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK) have been developing new
National Occupational Standards for the workforce in libraries, archives,
records and information management.
The first batch of the new standards is available on their website for
comment (follow web link below). Here you will find a briefing sheet, a
questionnaire and the standards grouped in six areas of activity.
A - Planning and developing services
B - Working ethically and ensuring compliance
C - Identifying, evaluating and acquiring content and collections
D - Creating and communicating knowledge and information
E - Organising and managing content and collections
F - Enabling access to and use of content and collections
The existing online consultation has been extended until Tue 28 Sep to
enable further comment on the draft NOS to be made.
Colleagues from the UK Records Management profession are urged to take this
opportunity to comment on the standards, (if you haven't already!).

Hello all - further to earlier correspondence initiated by Marion
Huckle, LLUK has agreed to extend the existing online consultation until
Tue 28 Sep to enable further comment on the draft NOS to be made, with
the proviso that we cannot guarantee to action all responses in time for
the initial September submission. Any issues which we are unable to
action will be held over to be considered as part of the proposed
incremental review process for which we will table proposals on to the
PSG, for your views, on 11 Sep 07.
Please accept my apologies for the time lag in informing you of this,
but there is still time to encourage your contacts to respond to the
current online consultation.
Regards
Peter
