Some 4 years ago, when I was working with Oxfordshire C.C. they had plans
for establishing their own media-streaming of video, sound and stills. I
don't know how far they got but you should try them.
PS why does it need to be 'external'? What's wrong with a county-wide or
GfL service?

Subject: [VLES] your experiences of using an external company to host your
streaming provision
Apologise for cross posting
I'm part of a team reviewing our future video (audio) streaming provision.
As part of this we are very interested in hearing from UK institutions that
use an external company to host their video streaming provision. In
particular, the company they use, the type of material that is being
streamed, in practical terms how is material uploaded to the streaming
server, is this undertaken by the academic? and what sort of pre-uploading
processes do you undertake? Infact ... everything :-)
I'd really appreciate those who are using an external hosting solution if
they contacted me (off list) and we could arrange a quick telephone
conversation.
I will happily feed the outcomes back to the community - all anonymous :-)
Thanks
Andy
