Hosted by the Transportation Research Group, University of Southampton
To be held in Portsmouth, Hampshire

http://www.utsg.net
CALL FOR PAPERS
The 40th Annual Conference of the UTSG will be
held in the Portsmouth Marriott Hotel
(http://marriott.com/hotels/travel/pmeha-portsmouth-marriott-hotel),
Hampshire, from Thursday 3rd to Saturday 5th
January 2008 inclusive. Papers are invited on
both completed work and projects in their early
stages in any field of transport. Inclusion of
papers for the conference does not constitute
publication and papers submitted to a journal for
publication may also be submitted to the
conference unless they appear in a journal before the conference.
ABSTRACTS
Staff and Students of UTSG member institutions
are invited to submit 200 - 300 word abstracts
for consideration using the online submission
form at http://www.utsg.net, including
identification of a 'best fit' topic area (used
to assist the administration process only, no
inferences about likelihood of acceptance or
eventual conference session titles should be
drawn). Closing date for abstracts is Friday 31st
August 2007. All received abstracts will then be
reviewed by the UTSG Executive Committee, and
authors will be informed by the end of September
2007 whether their paper has been accepted.
Papers are welcomed from honorary staff of a
member institution (or from staff and students
who have now left a member institution) where the
paper relates to work carried out under the aegis
of the institution (or while a member of staff or
student at the institution). Contributors should
briefly note where this is the case in the submitted abstract.
SMEED PRIZE
The Smeed Prize will be awarded for the best
student paper. The prize has a value of £300 and
the winning paper may also be published in an
appropriate journal. Importance is attached to
the quality of the presentation as well as to the
content of the paper. Candidates should note the
regulations regarding qualification to be
considered for this prize, available from http://www.utsg.net.
Please note especially that abstracts for papers
to be entered into the Smeed Prize competition
need to be between 800 - 1000 words and
accompanied with a confirmatory e-mail from the
candidate's supervisor (it is the candidate's
responsibility to ensure that this is sent to the
Conference Co-ordinator
([log in to unmask]) by the same deadline).
Failure to adhere to any of the Smeed Prize
regulations will lead to the abstract being
considered only as a standard paper and not
entered into the Smeed Prize competition.
