CIVIL ENGINEERING - SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING

Experienced academic to take leadership role in teaching and research.

Engineering at The University of Queensland leads the world in 
cutting edge research and teaching innovation. The Civil Engineering 
division is part of UQ Engineering, which boasts an annual research 
income of over $25 million, and is well known and highly regarded for 
its pioneering research, the quality of its graduates, and its 
dynamic and progressive environment.

Our project-centred curriculum has won many national awards for 
excellence in teaching and is internationally recognised for its 
integrated learning philosophy. World-class facilities, 
state-of-the-art infrastructure and a culture of excellence enable 
its researchers to produce exemplary, ground breaking work, and 
attract leading academia from around the world.

Leading research areas include structural engineering including steel 
and concrete structures, numerical analysis, composite structures and 
materials technology; water engineering including coastal, fluvial 
and ground water engineering, hydraulic structures and two-phase 
flow; geotechnical engineering including numerical modelling and mine 
site rehabilitation; transport engineering including intelligent

For purposes of this appointment, the research field is open. 
However, the successful applicant must have a principal research 
field which spans, extends or complements our existing research 
strengths. The successful applicant will contribute to teaching and 
supervision within and beyond the special area of expertise and will 
contribute to the development of school courses at both undergraduate 
and postgraduate levels.

The Role: The successful applicant will have an outstanding record in 
engineering teaching, postgraduate supervision, research scholarship 
and leadership, and involvement with the profession and industry. The 
appointee will be expected to initiate and lead innovative 
collaborative research within the discipline, with cognate groups and 
with industry, and to initiate and lead innovative interdisciplinary 
research. The applicant will also be expected to contribute to 
administration within the division and the school.

Remuneration: This is a continuing, full time position at 
Professorial Level (Academic Level E). The remuneration package 
consists of a salary of $147,277 per annum which includes employer 
superannuation contributions of 17% plus other benefits.
