I don't remember which release of MATLAB this happened in, but I think
that more recent releases expect the mex files for 32 bit Windows to be
called *.mexw32, rather than *.dll. I have put a mexw32.tar.gz file in
the updates directory of SPM5 (you can find this via the SPM web pages),
which can be unpacked into your SPM5 directory.
Note that for some MATLAB versions, if these updates are installed, then
you'll get a bunch of warning messages when you run SPM. These will be
along the lines of:
Warning: In the directory "***", spm_*.mexw32 now shadows spm_*.dll.
Please see the MATLAB 7.1 Release Notes.
The solution is to delete the old spm_*.dll files. I expect that the
question about these warnings will arise many times.
Best regards,
-John

Subject: [SPM] spm5 and windows vista
Hi,
I am trying to run SPM5 under windows Vista. When I try to
start preprocessing I get errors that I have to compile
the sytem by Makefile. I have read something about this
and the operating system you are using seems to be the
cause for this kind of errors.
I am using windows Vista (it was on my laptop when I
bought it) and Matlab 2006b, version 7.3. I installed all
the updates of SPM, as far as I known. How can I get SPM
working? Thanks in advance.
Edith
