Subject: Memories of childhood reading
Hi
I don't know whetehr this will be of interest to anyone on the list, but
I've just finished a small piece of research about childhood memories of
reading among people who were children in the 1940s and 50s. I
interviewed 23 people from the north west about topics such as:
* Memories of learning to read
* Memories of being read to
* Memories of reading habits eg where and when people read as
children
* Attitudes towards books and reading in the past
* Visiting bookshops
* Using libraries
* Experiences of talking about books
* Reading as a teenager
* Memorable books
* Comics and magazines
* Reading at school
* Reading in families
* Re-reading
If you are interested in reading it email [log in to unmask] and
I'll
send you a copy.
