My name is Layma Lankmane, work for NGO NEW LIFE FOUNDATION, Russia/Moscow

Just as introduction, shortly about us:
OUR VALUES

NEW LIFE FOUNDATION has been organized by women for the sake of women and
their children. We truly believe that one of the most beautiful moments in
life is to expect and give a birth to a child, enjoying afterwards an
emotionally enriched and physically healthy motherhood.

OUR MISSION

TO HELP WOMEN TO BECOME HAPPY AND HEALTHY MOTHERS WHO'LL GROW WANTED AND
LOVED CHILDREN

OUR GOALS
1. To improve the lives of individuals and couples.
2. To contribute to the improvement of education, prevention, counseling by
gathering and disseminating knowledge:
-liberate access to accurate reproductive health information and services;
-promote women's wellness and health status of the baby;
-raise women's awareness of their own health and their role in education
about healthy lifestyles
3. To initiate and undertake research at the Russian national level on
women's, babies health, and other reproductive related issues. To spread
and propagate the results accordingly.
4. To upgrade the midwifery professional level up to international level
and gain bigger social status for this profession:
5. To provide midwifes to play a key role in the future of health care and
assist in their recognition as unique experts in the care of childbearing.
To improve the standard of midwifery care provided to women and children
and present to the society well-qualified, competent and caring personnel
6. To create, develop social-oriented programs and/or lead and help in
execution of already existing projects which assist:

In reducing infant and maternal mortality via promotion of skilled care at
all birth;
Improving maternal health
Suppling required help for socially-unprotected children
  OUR PROJECTS
1. To develop, create and conduct National Research among: (a)young
women; (b)pregnant women; (c) midwifes; (c) doctors-gynecologists with
following objectives:

· To identify key problems/barriers among women to have children,
to get the snap-shot of their attitude to the reproductive health issues.

· To analyze the women's attitude to existing midwifery care status.

· To analyze key problems in maternity institution organization.

· To draw the social portrait of today's midwife in Russia:
education, expectations and satisfaction from job, key issues and problems

· To analyze doctors-gynecologists attitude to the midwives and
their professional role.

· To analyze role split between midwifes-doctors-gynecologists in
different geography segments: big cities, small cities, villages

So as you might have already understood, my question is about RESEARCH:-)

1. First of all, I'd like to know would you be able to share any knowledge
of the other research projects with the similar objectives in the other
countries?
2. Right now we do really first and extremely hard step - quantative
questionnaire in 19 regions across Russia, which is meant to help us to
analyze the existing situation, to take so called snap-shot picture, but
for the future I'd like to do more sophisticated and professional ones, is
it possible to find any assistance within among you colleagues?

thanks in advance for you help and support, because everything we do - we
do for the sake of babies and mothers!
