DISABILITY EQUALITY DUTY: ARE YOU MEETING IT?
16 October 2007, London
The Disability Equality Duty (DED) for the public sector was introduced in December 2006. This new legal duty means that any public body must look at ways of ensuring that disabled people are treated equally and requires local authorities to be proactive in ensuring that disabled people are treated fairly.
BENEFITS OF ATTENDING
Have you seen your organisation's Disability Equality Duty scheme? If you have, how do you know whether it is a good one or not? Either way attendance at this course is essential to find out how the DED applies to libraries and information services.
The day will not only improve your performance on disability equality, but will help you to meet your wider objectives and strategic priorities as well.
BY THE END OF THE EVENT PARTICIPANTS WILL:
· identified the key principles of Disability Equality Duty
· examined the disability equality scheme and action plan
· learned about inclusion
· looked at case studies
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Those working in the public and academic sectors with responsibility for strategic planning.
