the article about the LAX customs processing failure. Bottom line is
that a single network card in a distributed system had problems. This
in itself did not bring down the system, but the resulting backlog of
requests was too much for the rest of the system to handle ... a
different kind of "single point of failure" than we're used to thinking
about.
