The Portable Antiquities Scheme is a voluntary scheme to record archaeological objects found by the public, including metal detector users, to advance archaeological knowledge and to increase opportunities for active public involvement in archaeology.
Based at Cambridgeshire Historic Environment Record and Peterborough Museum, you will make contact with members of the public, including metal detector users, attend club and society meetings, promote the scheme and the Treasure Act and record objects found on the PAS database.
You will have a degree in archaeology or a suitable discipline, or considerable relevant experience. You will have a background in finds identification and recording, with some experience of database entry. Ideally you will have some experience of public outreach work in a museum or archaeological environment, as well as experience of working with metal-detector users or other voluntary groups.
