How much RAM do you have? Too little may actually stop the Desktop
from starting - it takes a while, and with insufficient RAM this
could take a LONG time.

Being disabled is normal - follow the instruction on the Windows
install web page to enable it - you can do everything from the GUI,
the default share is only included to allow changes from the GUI, and
in most cases wont work.

Also be aware of the TBSS problem noted elsewhere on this list, to
fix this without downloading a new VM, log into the VM as the root user:
username: root
password: fslroot
(unless you have got round to changing it).
Then issue the following:
yum -y install freeglut
Once this command completes you can log out of the root account.
