Subject: AHEAD 2008 Conference Call for Proposals
AHEAD 2008 Conference
Multiple Intersections
July 14 - 19
The Grand Sierra Resort
Reno, Nevada USA
AHEAD invites proposals for its thirty-first annual conference to be
held in Reno, Nevada, July 14-19, 2008. The Association provides
opportunities for professional development to those who work to assure
usable, sustainable and inclusive higher education environments for
students, faculty, and staff with disabilities and who believe society
is ultimately enriched by difference.
Exploring a new direction for AHEAD, conference sessions will be
organized under ten topical strands that are related to the overall
conference theme. While all submitted proposals must be addressed to
one of the ten strands, we have worked to develop broad strands that
encourage innovative, provocative proposals.
The topical strands include:
* The intersection between students with disabilities and
disability service centers
* The intersection between higher education and transition
* The intersection between disability and technology
* The intersection between disability and graduate/professional
programs
* The intersection between disability and the academic curriculum
* The intersection between disability and the co-curriculum
* The intersection between disability and the policy environment
* The intersection between the disability service professional and
legal issues
* The intersection between disability and diversity
* The intersection between higher education and external forces
I hope you will take some time to review the Call for Proposals and
consider proposing a session. This year the deadline for submissions is
November 5, 2007, so that program decisions can be made by January,
2008. Program proposals must be submitted electronically. The Call for
Proposals in its entirety, along with the submission form, is available
at http://www.ahead.org/training/conference/cfp/
The 2008 Conference will also incorporate some new strategies aimed at
both improving accessibility of the conference for all attendees and
responding to environmental issues. Our intent is to enhance the use of
technology and preplanning to reduce the use of natural resources while
assuring valuable content is fully available. This move will involve
the participation of all presenters and is fully outlined in the Call
for Proposals. We thank you in advance for your assistance in reaching
these goals.
We welcome your thoughts and proposals! To discuss possible ideas or
other Conference program matters, please feel contact either Richard
Allegra, AHEAD's Director of Professional Development, at

We look forward to hearing from you,
Carol Funckes, President
