HANFODION COSHH
“Camau syml i reoli risgiau cemegau i iechyd”

A oes gennych asesiadau COSHH i’w cynnal neu i’w diweddaru?

Mae’r Awdurdod Gweithredol Iechyd a Diogelwch yn darparu pecyn hunanasesu
am ddim ar-lein. Mae’n symleiddio’r broses ac yn cynnwys asesiad a
chanllawiau ar yr arferion gorau ar sut i ymgymryd â thasg sy’n defnyddio
cemegau:

http://www.coshh-essentials.org.uk

Bydd yr asesiad hwn yn cymryd ychydig funudau.

Byddwch yn gweithio drwy nifer o gamau gan dicio bocsys i ateb cwestiynau.
Byddwch hefyd yn nodi manylion eich tasgau a’ch cemegau ac felly mae angen
Taflen Diogelwch pob sylwedd arnoch er mwyn cwblhau’r asesiad.

Chi sydd i lenwi Sgriniau 1 – 7. Bydd eich manylion yn cael eu defnyddio i
lenwi Sgriniau 8 a 9.

Screen 1: Prosesau a thasgau
Screen 2: Sawl cemeg yr ydych chi’n ddefnyddio
Screen 3: Enw’r cemegyn neu’r cynnyrch
Screen 4: Pa mor niweidiol ydyw
Screen 5: Grwp Perygl
Screen 6: Faint o’r cemegyn allai ddianc i’r aer
Screen 7: Faint ydych yn ei ddefnyddio a pha mor aml
Screen 8: Crynodeb o ddata’r defnyddiwr
Screen 9: Cyngor ar sut i warchod eich hunan ac eraill

Os ydych yn defnyddio cemegyn neu gynnyrch mewn ffordd anarferol nad yw
wedi’i gynnwys yn y COSHH, fe’ch cynghorir i gysylltu â’r cyflenwyr am
ganllawiau pellach.

DOLENNI
Cemegau yn y Gweithle - Cyfyngiadau (WELau)
Dyma restr yr Awdurdod Gweithredol Iechyd a Diogelwch o’r cyfyngiadau hyn:
EH40/2005: http://www.hse.gov.uk/coshh/table1.pdf

COSHH: Canllaw byr i’r Rheoliadau
Beth sydd angen ei wybod arnoch am Reoliadau Rheoli Sylweddau Peryglus i
Iechyd 2002 (COSHH)
http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/indg136.pdf

Taflenni Diogelwch Deunyddiau (MSDS)
Os ydych yn prynu cemegyn i’w ddefnyddio yn y labordy, gofynnwch i’r
cynhyrchwr am Daflen Diogelwch Deunyddiau (MSDS).

Os nad oes gennych MSDS, dyma’r ddolen at wefannau i gael MSDS:
http://www.chemistryguide.org/msds.html

Mae’r gronfa ddata di-dâl hon yn lle defnyddiol i gael gwybodaeth am
gemegau a gwybodaeth ar faterion eraill yn ymwneud â diogelwch. Mae’n
cynnwys “Sut i ddehongli MSDS”. Darllenwch ymwadiad y safle.
http://physchem.ox.ac.uk/MSDS/

DEDDFWRIAETH EWROPPEAIDD NEWYDD (“REACH”) ac MSDS
Un o Reoliadau newydd y Gymuned Ewropeaidd yw REACH, sy’n ymwneud â
chofrestru, gwerthuso, awdurdodi a chyfyngu ar gemegau. Daeth i rym ar 1
Mehefin 2007 ac mae’n cynnig un system i gymryd lle nifer o Gyfarwyddebau a
Rheoliadau Ewropeaidd.

Nid yw’n cymryd lle COSHH.

Mae Rheoliad REACH yn rhoi mwy o gyfrifoldeb i ddiwydiannau reoli peryglon
cemegol ac i ddarparu gwybodaeth am ddiogelwch y sylweddau. Bydd gofyn i
gynhyrchwyr a mewnforwyr gasglu gwybodaeth am briodweddau’u sylweddau, a
fydd yn eu helpu i’w rheoli’n ddiogel, ac i gofrestru’r wybodaeth ar y
gronfa ddata canolog. Bydd yr wybodaeth hon yna’n helpu i wella’r MSDS. Yn
y tymor byr, efallai y byddwch yn sylwi ar newidiadau bach i fformat yr
MSDS ac yn y tymor hir gallant gynnwys gwybodaeth well am sut i ddefnyddio
cemegau’n ddiogel.

Felly, os ydych yn defnyddio cemegyn mewn ffordd anarferol neu mewn ffordd
sydd heb ei disgrifio mewn MSDS, byddwch yn barod i roi gwybod i’r
cynhyrchwr fel y gall asesu’ch proses, ei chofrestru a newid ei MSDS. Nid
oes rheidrwydd arnoch i roi gwybod i’ch cyflenwr sut ydych yn defnyddio’r
cemegyn. Fodd bynnag, o dan rai amgylchiadau, gallech gael eich cosbi o dan
REACH am beidio â gwneud.

Mae’n annhebygol y bydd gofyn i sefydliadau sector yr amgueddfeydd,
archifau a llyfrgelloedd gymryd unrhyw gamau pellach oni bai eu bod yn
mewnforio sylweddau mewn mesurau o dros 1 dunnell.

O dan amgylchiadau eithriadol mae’n bosibl y byddai’n rhaid cadw at amodau
REACH wrth gael benthyg neu brynu casgliad o’r tu allan i’r DU. Byddai
casgliad yn gorfod rhyddhau sylwedd fel aroma neu lwch, er enghraifft, yn
fwriadol a bydd tunnell neu fwy yn bresennol yn y casgliad. I gael mwy o
fanylion ac i gysylltu â’r llinell gymorth:

RHANNU RHAGOR O WYBODAETH:
Os oes gennych ragor o wybodaeth ddefnyddiol am COSHH, a fyddech cystal â’i
hanfon at:

ADBORTH
Byddaf yn croesawu’ch sylwadau ar y wybodaeth a ddarparwyd.
Gallwch fy e-bostio ar: [log in to unmask]

A ydych yn debygol o ddefnyddio’r wybodaeth hon?
*Byddaf yn ei defnyddio nawr
*Byddaf yn ei defnyddio’r tro nesaf rwy’n adolygu asesiadau neu’n defnyddio
cynnyrch neu broses newydd
*Byddaf yn ei defnyddio yn y dyfodol
*Efallai
*Byddai’n ddefnyddiol i’w phasio ymlaen
*Byth – gan nad yw’n berthnasol
*Byth - gan fy mod yn gwybod y rhan fwyaf ohono eisoes
*Byth – gan na fydd yn gwella’r ffordd yr wyf yn gweithio

A oedd yr wybodaeth hon yn ddiddorol?

A fyddai briffiau byr eraill o’r math hwn o ddiddordeb ichi?

Pa bynciau fyddai’n ddefnyddiol ichi?

A allech chi, neu a fyddech chi’n rhoi briffiau tebyg?
Arbenigedd:

A allech chi neu a fyddech chi’n helpu cymheiriaid i adolygu briffiau neu
ganllawiau tebyg?
Arbenigedd:

Diolch am gymryd rhan

COSHH ESSENTIALS
“Easy steps to control health risks from chemicals”

Do you have COSHH assessments to do or to update?

The Health and Safety Executive provides a free online self-assessment
toolkit. This simplifies the process and provides you with an assessment
and best practise guidance on how to carry out a task that uses chemicals:

http://www.coshh-essentials.org.uk

This assessment will take a few minutes to complete.

You work through a number of steps using tick boxes to answer questions.
You also fill in information about your tasks and chemicals and so you need
the Material Data Safety Sheet for each substance in order to complete the
assessment.

You fill in Screens 1 – 7. Screens 8 and 9 are compiled from your input.

Screen 1: Process and tasks
Screen 2: How many chemicals you are using
Screen 3: Chemical or product name
Screen 4: How harmful
Screen 5: Hazard group
Screen 6: How much of the chemical can get in the air
Screen 7: How much you are using and how often
Screen 8: Summary of user input
Screen 9: Advice on how to protect yourself and others

If you use a chemical or product in an unusual way that is not covered by
the options provided in COSSH essentials, you are advised to contact the
suppliers for additional guidance.

Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
If you buy a chemical to use in the laboratory, ask the manufacturer for a
complete Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).

If you cannot obtain a MSDS, this is a link to further electronic quick
reference sources for MSDS: http://www.chemistryguide.org/msds.html

This free online database is a useful resource for chemical and other
safety information. It includes “How to interpret MSDS”. Please read the
site disclaimer. http://physchem.ox.ac.uk/MSDS/

NEW EUROPEAN LEGISLATION (“REACH”) AND MSDS
REACH is a new European Community regulation concerning the Registration,
Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of CHemicals. It came into force
on 1st June 2007 and replaces a patchwork of European Directives and
Regulations with a single system.

It does not replace COSHH.

The REACH Regulation gives greater responsibility to industry to manage the
risks from chemicals and to provide safety information on the substances.
Manufacturers and importers will be required to gather information on the
properties of their substances, which will help them manage them safely,
and to register the information in a central database.

Therefore if you use a chemical in an unusual way that is not covered on
the MSDS, please inform the manufacturer so that they can include the
process as an approved use and amend their MSDS

You are unlikely to be required to take any other action unless you import
chemicals in quantities of over 1 tonne

There is a possibility that REACH would (very occasionally) apply to
particular loans or acquisitions form outside the UK. The collection would
need to exceed one tonne in weight and the hazardous substance would be
freely released by the object, for example as an aroma or dust. Further
details and Helpline:
