For the first time in 20 years my department has seen a 5%
reduction in new attenders consistently since january.
I though initially it was the warm winter not triggering
the seasonal cull of chest complaints.
Then it might have been the awful weather stopping the
tourists visiting north yorkshire.
We are seeing much more variation in the activity, we used
to see a 20% variation between mid week and the weekend on
a mid week base of 85 new cases per day, now we are seeing
40% variation on a base of 100.
So we are seeing an effect from the lack of primary care
access locally.
I would love to know if anyone else has seen a reduction
in activity, particularly in places like mine, isolated
small DGH in a tourist area.
I would hate to find that the PCT claiming to be
responsible for the reduction, I have seen no evidence of
any useful activity from them. All innovations suggested
have been thwarted by the little darlings.
Anyone with any similar experiences?
