Hi,
I'm new to this list so I offer the usual apologies should I be requesting
information that's either obvious/daft/20 years away etc..
I've recently been asked to oversee metadata attribution against documents
that will sit in our Intranet. We use Serengeti's eIntranet product. The
materials will include all manner of departmental materials (policies,
reports etc) but also scanned materials (finance records etc)
The metadata we create/associate in the application, principally assists
the on-board search facility, however, I guess if there was some kind of
standardisation of the tags/values then some kind of mirroring might be
possible with other services (with the published Intranet web pages for
example)
I was wondering if there are any standards for HEI records/document
tagging? If nothing specific, then what are the best taxonomies or subject
headings to use, which are most recommended? Is anyone out there trying to
do similar?
Lots of questions I know...
Any help gratefully received. If I get a huge response, I'll post resluts
back.
Many Thanks,
