Yorkshire & Humber Science Alliance
The Yorkshire & Humber Science Alliance (YHSA) is a networking group meeting across the region to help connect practitioners who engage the public with science.
The aims of the YHSA are to:
*
enable sharing of good practice across the region by bringing together practitioners who:
*
work in all fields of science, including technology, maths and social sciences;
*
work to engage all groups of people;
*
come from diverse backgrounds including science communication, academia, education, museums, public sector, free-lance, industry, business, professional/learned societies, etc.
*
add value to existing networks in the region by providing a space for them to come together with other and for collaborations to be formed.
*
meet the needs of members through consultation to shape the direction the science alliance takes.
The YHSA is aimed at all people working to engage the public with science. This includes audiences of all ages and engagement aimed at promoting science because it's interesting as well as for more skills-based purposes.
Meetings of the YHSA will be held quarterly and follow an informal format of short presentations, buffet and drinks and lots of time for networking.
The first meeting of the alliance will be held on Tuesday July 10th at 7pm at the UK Resource Centre for Women in SET, Bradford:
UK Resource Centre for Women in Science, Engineering and Technology

As a member of the YHSA you will be able to attend the quarterly meetings, give presentations and share information as well as taking advantage of this excellent networking opportunity.
The presentations are included to:
*
share good practice;
*
disseminate tips e.g. on gaining publicity or fundraising;
*
raise awareness of new schemes;
*
call for collaborations.
We ask you to get in touch if you would like to present at any meetings or informally let the alliance know about new developments. The YHSA runs on support in kind and will welcome offers to host future meetings. The location of the meetings will vary in order to accommodate people in all parts of the region, so it doesn't matter where in Yorkshire & Humberside your organisation is.
Please mention the YHSA to any of your contacts who you feel would benefit from the meetings.
If you wish to attend the first meeting or for more information please contact me - details below.
Kind regards,
Pam Buchan
