Mark, one of my current contracts is the project management of the
procurement & implementation of the IWM's collections, digital asset and
library management systems. I'm working to a tailored version of PRINCE to
do this but the IWM also have an interesting risk management system called
the Risk Network which they use to highlight project issues and which (and
this is the important bit, I've come to realise) is integrated into their
management procedures. Details are online at
http://www.therisknetwork.org.uk/ .
Feel free to contact me if you want to talk further - I'm off to recover
from posting twice in one week - I'm overcome with the excitement of it
all...
Best,
Alice

Subject: Project Management
Colleagues,
I am responsible for IT project management within Kew Gardens,
and we are at present engrossed in defining our processes and
feeling our way towards best-practise methods of managing our IT
and its associated projects. For the acronym collectors amongst
you, this means tailoring government standards PRINCE2 and ITIL
to work at the marvelously eccentric and unique organisation that
is Kew! The projects range from backoffice infrastructure projects to
public-facing web developments and all stages in between.
I wonder whether any MCG members are in similar roles, or have
formal processes for project management? It would be nice to get
some feedback on what works (or not) in other organisations. I
don't recall any previous discussion on this list on project
management, but plenty of projects are discussed so it must be
going on...
If members could contact me on or off list, and offer any
observations, I'd be grateful.
Thanks,
Mark
