Hello All (Especially Doug),
I spent some time today talking to an apple rep--courtesy of my apple
care agreement ($$)--about some other aberrant behaviors of my
machine and he suggested the problem was in my NetInfo database and
that a rebuild was necessary
or that it might just be simpler to do an archive-install *without*
preserving settings, which is the option I chose.
In the 20 or so minutes I've been back up, I have noticed all of the
problems I can remember to be solved, including the associated
problems with Kay's email. I seem to remember a myriad of problems
correlated in time with a security update I performed last fall. The
netinfo database might have been a casualty.
Thank you for the replies. They were helpful in my solving this
problem and preserving my faith (pun only partially intended) in Macs.
