Dear Colleague,
The University of Warwick is home to 2 Doctoral Training Centres: MOAC and Systems Biology at the Physical and Biological Sciences interface.
Each admits 8-10 post-graduate students per annum and we still are keen to recruit good students for the few remaining
places for next academic year (October 2007). We offer EPSRC/BBSRC funded studenships.
We are seeking applicants with two types of background:
- Graduates with mathematics/physics/statistics (or related) degrees who will receive training in biology together with more advanced instruction in modelling, statistical inference and bioinformatics.
- Life sciences graduates who possess basic mathematical skills who will be provided with training in modelling & computational techniques.
Students will take a taught first year MSc in either Systems Biology (SB DTC) or Mathematical Biology and Biophysical Chemistry (MOAC DTC), during which they will learn techniques that are indispensable for undertaking a PhD in Systems Biology or Molecular Organisation and Assembly in Cells (MOAC). At the end of the first year they choose a PhD project from a varied selection of projects.
