Postgraduate Study Visits Scheme 2007
Applications are invited from postgraduate research students for grants to
facilitate a study visit to another institution. The scheme is aimed at
supporting research students to acquire skills directly relevant to their
research training, above and beyond that required for the completion of their
doctoral degree.
Please note: The scheme does not cover attendance at a conference to present a
paper and retrospective applications will not be considered.
The closing date for submissions is Friday 28 September 2007
Grant: Six grants are available, two in each of the following categories, to
support a visit of a minimum of two weeks:
# Up to £250 to visit an institution in the UK
# Up to £400 to visit an institution in Europe
# Up to £600 to visit an institution elsewhere in the world
Eligibility:
# The applicant must be registered at a UK institution for a doctoral degree in
psychology
# The applicant and his or her supervisor must also confirm in writing that the
student either has no income or an income of no more than £5500 per annum from
part-time or full time employment (excluding any kind of studentship grant
income, although details of such funding should be provided in the application).
Applications: Applicants should complete the Application Form which should
including the following information:
# What the student will gain from the visit that cannot be gained from their
home institution.
# The amount of money requested and an estimated breakdown of expenses
# Details of any other sources of funding (e.g. the Department, own income,
Research Council, other organisation etc).
Additional Information Required:
§ A supporting statement from the applicant’s supervisor
§ A supporting statement from the proposed host institution
§ A copy of the applicant’s current CV.
