ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PAPERS
Scope
The conference aims at gathering and sharing information on all aspects of ancient mining and metallurgy in Turkey and the Eastern Mediterranean including the Aegean, Cyprus, Caucasian countries (Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan), Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, Irak, Egypt, Yemen, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and the Persian Gulf countries.
Conference Topics
Y Description of specific ancient mining sites in the area including mines for:
Metals
Obsidian
Flint
Ocher
Asphalt
Gypsum
Salt
and Quarries for building stone
Y Papers on the tracing of and trading of the products from mines across the region
Metallic
Non-metallic
Y The technologies used in the mining process
Y Metal smelting and smelting sites
Y "Mining villages" where the workers lived
Language of the Conference
The official language of the conference is English. A limited number of papers in Turkish will also be included in the program. There will be simultaneous translation from English to Turkish and from Turkish to English.

Conference Study Tour
A Study tour to Salt Lake, Asiklihoyuk, Acigol, Komurcu (obsidian works), Acemhoyuk, Kestel Mine (Bronze Age) and Cappadocia will also be organized.
Accompanying Persons Program
An accompanying persons program will be organised during the conference which will include sight seeing in Ankara and the surrounding regions.
Proceedings
All the papers to be presented during the conference will be published as "Conference Proceedings" in hard copy form before the conference and will be given to the participants at the registration.
