Dear Colleagues
Apologies for interrupting everyone's sunbathing! Here is a second (and
slightly revised) call for papers for the 2008 Political Studies
Association conference. The revised element is highlighted.
Michael
Political Studies Association Annual Conference
Swansea University, 1-3 April 2008
Media and Politics Group submission, CFP
Deadline: Friday 7 September 2007
As in past years, the Media and Politics Group (MPG) of the PSA will be
running a set of panels at the 2008 annual conference. The group is
therefore seeking proposals for papers from specialists and researchers
across the broad field of media and politics. While the theme of the
conference is “Democracy, Governance and Conflict: Dilemmas of Theory
and Practice”, the group will consider papers on any aspect of the
relationship between media and politics. All MPG papers are subject to
two stages of peer-review.
*>>>>>
In addition, the group has now agreed to run a number of joint panels at
the conference with the Italian Politics Group looking specifically at
the relationship between mass-media and political leadership in
contemporary Europe, and so we also invite papers on that subject.*
>>>>>
The deadline for all proposals to the MPG is Friday 7 September 2007.
Please note this is earlier than the submission date specified on the
PSA website, to allow time for panel review and documentation.
Proposals should be sent by the above date to group co-convenor Dr
Michael Higgins. [log in to unmask] These should
contain the following:
1. Name (including preferred title)
2. Institutional affiliation
3. Email address
4. Title of paper
5. Abstract of not more than 200 words.
6. Graduate student (yes/no)
We should point out that the PSA have decided to limit graduate students
to no more than one per panel, and so it is essential that this
information is provided in the proposal.
Email any of Dr Michael Higgins ([log in to unmask]), Dr
Heather Savigny ([log in to unmask]) or Professor Mick Temple
([log in to unmask]) with questions regarding the CFP or for
information on the Media and Politics Group. Further information on the
conference and the activities of the PSA can be found at
