Anabel,
The kind of application you are talking about is exactly the kind of thing RSS is designed to facilitate. Some of your 250 clients are bound to publish their own RSS feeds. These are easy to deal with and there are a few ways you can monitor them.
1) Use an RSS reader - downloadable software like email or newsgroups reader that gives you a combined feed.
2) Online RSS reader - Google news, Blogroll, Feedreader for some examples.
3) Create your own online RSS aggregator. This is what you seem to want to be able to do. You probably won't have to cast your net very wide to find some pre-written code that you can insert into your intranet page that will do this.
For those of your clients that do NOT publish RSS feeds, the challenge becomes more difficult.
You can monitor these web pages using the kinds of services that I have listed on this part of our library website: http://library.wit.ie/Research/CurrentAwareness/#d.en.5884
There is a bit of information about RSS feeds on this part of our library site.
I hope you find some of the links useful.
David.

I have been asked to investigate the possibility of creating RSS feeds,
which would monitor press coverage on our top 250 clients. The RSS feeds
would ideally need to feed to our intranet.
Has anyone been through this process and/or can recommend some RSS feeds
(commercial or free) which would allow you to search by company?
Thanks
Anabel
