The Eyes and Vision Specialist Library (EVSL) of the National Library for
Health is located at Moorfields Eye Hospital. We are seeking an
Information Specialist/Librarian to join the EVSL Management Team.
The National Library for Health (NLH) provides access to high quality
electronic information on health and health care, to clinical
professionals, patients and policy makers.
The Specialist Libraries within the NLH have been developed to identify and
meet the information needs of specific clinical specialties, providing
access to best currently available evidence and information of relevance to
their communities of practice.
The successful applicant will hold a first degree, or postgraduate
qualification in Information or Library Studies, and have previous
experience of working in a library or information unit, using a library
management system and maintaining a database.
The postholder will provide professional information science support to the
work programme of the EVSL and NLH, for the identification, organisation,
presentation and sharing of knowledge on eye health and health care. The
postholder will be part of the wider community of Specialist Libraries and
providers within the NLH, and will participate in a range of activities
both virtual and face-to-face, aimed at promoting joint working and sharing
of experience.
This is a full-time post but part-time applications will also be
considered. Initially, this will be a fixed-term contract for 2 years, and
the roles and responsibilities of the post will be reviewed at the end of
the first year.
